604 Barber & Co is a barbershop located on one of the busiest avenues in Villahermosa.
The requested design was a space with reminiscences of the classic barbershops of the 60’s, where gentlemen took advantage of the establishment as a meeting point between friends, and trust in their barbers the entire care of their look as a ritual.
The distribution of the areas that shape the barbershop were defined by the renovation process, since the local (which had been a taqueria) was in a pretty deplorable state, so the intervention involved generating a new construction design in the plant, which include the projection and execution of new installations and load walls.
Having as a premise the need for a timeless space, the environment we decided to generate was a warm and welcoming space, with an air of masculinity and fine taste.
The spaces are connected by the strength and sobriety of polished concrete, with wooden-like porcelain floor, which demarcate the various areas of the barbershop.
The walls are a succession of negative – positive spaces, which envelop the atmosphere with elegance and mystery, which is complemented by a set of smooth and volumetric textures when fused with bricks.
The incorporation of wood of diverse tones and sources, and leather furniture, give the space the dose of comfort, warmth and confidence that is usually given in the barber-client treatment.
Finally, the hardness of the steel is found in the details that end up embellishing the space: luminaires and paintings of select origin, accessories and details in furniture.
The exterior design of the site does not attempt to compete with the rest of the locals of the avenue, but rather, it seeks to enchase harmoniously in its place, since our office has an implicit commitment to the preservation of the urban image of the sites where our projects are located. However, we feel the responsibility to make small contributions that improve the urban landscape.
The main facade receives a sharp sun at midday, so we chose to preserve the existing awning and complement it with the planting of a Golden Rain tree, a species found on various sidewalks of the city, due to its size and beauty.
The passage from the parking lot to the access of the barbershop is through a small minimalist garden, garnished with a marble fountain in earthy tones, which harmonize with the reddish bricks of the wall, as a prelude to the comforting environment to which the user is about to enter.
